"To those seeking professional advice in renovating an older home, Travis Sutherley at Residence By Design would be a great choice as your designer and your project manager. I first met him at one of the "Home and Garden" shows in Edmonton in 2016 and was impressed by his pleasant, courteous manner.  Soon after the show, we arranged to meet at my house to discuss my ideas in renovating my 1200 square-foot, 1964-vintage, stucco bungalow.

 

I liked Travis immediately as he was not a difficult or pushy man who demanded his way over my way. He listened patiently, asked questions to clarify what my wife and I had in mind, and then spent some time at his desk drawing up ideas for our consideration. We talked more after that to finalize a design and discuss colors and other options. I never felt rushed or pressured at any point. Most importantly, I didn't want the renovation to look like everyone else's and so I was very pleased that his final design was much grander than anything I could have imagined. 

 

In regard to the meeting process, Travis always went above and beyond what I had hoped for. He not only answered my questions, but offered more things for me to think about that I would never have considered on my own. He met with local county officials to see if the design would meet their guidelines. He even assembled and screened a group of contractors for my consideration. A renovation is not easy, but Travis made it easier than I thought possible.

 

The renovation was around $47,000 so it was not a big, expensive project. I am sure the time Travis spent with us might have been more rewarding financially for him with another bigger budget renovation but Travis treated my family as if our project was his top priority. I cannot recommend him and Residence by Design highly enough."
